You can also choose additional activities, such as a workshop where you will learn how to make the best mojitos. Your group trip will also take you into the nature of the Viñales Valley, where you will learn about the process of tobacco production, the mogotes and life in the Cuban countryside. Together you will also discover the idyllic and authentic small towns of Cienfuegos and Trinidad. You will cross impressive national parks such as the Ciénaga de Zapata or Topes de Collantes. On the last days of the trip you will relax on the beautiful white beaches and turquoise waters of Varadero.
Day 1: Your group trip begins in the colonial city of Havana, the floating capital of the Caribbean island. We will pick you up at the airport and take you to one of the most beautiful Casas Particulares. Arrive relaxed in the capital of the island of Cuba and enjoy the first impressions upon your arrival.
Day 2: The rich breakfast that you will be treated to the next day is the start of all travel days and is included in the accommodation. You will then meet your tour guide. He will accompany you throughout the group trip and will be on hand to offer you advice and assistance. Next, you will admire the wonderful architecture of the capital on a private city tour through Havana’s old town. After a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, the afternoon continues with a convertible tour through the districts of the city. Sit back and enjoy the breeze in your hair.
Day 3: Today you have a free day! On request you can book a cocktail course in the late afternoon. You will learn how to prepare typical Cuban drinks together. End the evening with self-mixed daiquiris and toast to a successful day.
Day 4: The next day you will follow the traces of the island’s tobacco and rum production on a tour of some of the most famous factories.
Day 5: Your group tour through Cuba takes you deep into the west of the country, into the famous tobacco valley of Viñales. You leave Havana early in the morning and drive through untouched landscapes and small villages until you reach your destination after about three hours. Once you arrive in Viñales, you first go on a discovery tour. After this eventful day, dinner awaits you in an exclusive location: In the restaurant, you not only enjoy excellent Cuban cuisine, but you will also be treated to a unique view of the Viñales Valley while tasting the delicacies.
Day 6: Early in the morning, you will begin your hike through the Viñales Valley, a unique landscape guarded by strange limestone cliffs and green tobacco fields. You will learn about Cuban traditions, culture, flora and fauna. After a while, you will be surrounded by an incredible 360-degree view. Afterwards, you will enjoy a traditional rural lunch.
Day 7: Today you will depart from Viñales to Cienfuegos, but on the way you will visit the Cienaga de Zapata National Park, one of the largest wetlands in the Americas. Here you will visit Guama, a Cuban caiman breeding center. Travel through its canals to a replica of a Taino village. There you will learn about the way of life of the first inhabitants of Cuba. At the end of the tour you will have a traditional Cuban lunch.
Once you arrive in Cienfuegos, you will visit the city in the afternoon and discover the magnificent buildings and picturesque promenades of Cienfuegos. The kilometer-long, palm-lined promenade along the bay is particularly beautiful. The following generally applies to trips to Cuba: the hotels listed in the offer are subject to availability at the time of booking. Unfortunately, there is no 100% guarantee for the hotels specified. If the hotels we advertise are fully booked, we reserve the right to accommodate travelers in hotels of equivalent quality. In Cuba, overbooking often leads to last-minute hotel changes. We appeal to your cultural understanding here.
If you value specific hotels (and are less flexible), it is advisable to book early. The better accommodations are booked up quickly, especially in high season. We therefore recommend booking at least six months before the start of your trip. Cuba is currently a very popular travel destination. Demand is very high, but capacity is very limited. However, we would like to point out that hotel changes can occur even if you book early. The state booking system in Cuba, which most agencies use, is very complex. Booking individual services can take some time. Please be understanding and have a little patience.
You can find the most detailed description of customs regulations on the website of the Federal Foreign Office . Here are excerpts from the most important topics so that you don’t have to search for long:
Only take things that are for your personal use or that you could do without. Excess quantities may be confiscated because they are considered unauthorized gifts.
“Electrical devices may also only be imported to the extent that they are intended for personal use, not as gifts for Cuban citizens. For gifts (non-commercial imports) with a value of between 50 CUC and 250 CUC, customs duty of 100% is levied. Further information can be obtained from the relevant Cuban diplomatic mission abroad. The import of walkie-talkies, satellite phones and GPS devices is not permitted or requires prior approval from the relevant Cuban authorities. Laptops, cameras and mobile phones with GPS function are not affected by this. The import of fresh food (e.g. fresh sausages, dairy products, vegetables, fruit) is prohibited for health reasons.”
Do not take any objects from Cuba that could be considered Cuban cultural property. This may also apply to older coins. Information on this and export permits are available from: Bienes Culturales, Calle 17 #1009, entre10 y 12, Vedado, Telephone: 839658. The permit only costs a few pesos, but saves you potential trouble when leaving the country.
“Export regulations for tobacco products
Up to twenty (20) loose cigars may be exported without having to provide proof of origin and purchase. Up to fifty (50) cigars may be exported provided that they are in their original, closed, sealed packaging with an official hologram. More than fifty (50) cigars may only be exported upon presentation of an original invoice issued by the officially authorized state stores. This invoice must include the total quantity of tobacco intended for export. In these cases too, it is essential that the cigars are in their original, closed, sealed packaging with an official hologram.
Detailed information on Cuban import and export regulations is available on the Cuban Customs website at www.aduana.co.cu.”
You can obtain further customs information on importing goods from the embassy of your destination country. Only there can legally binding information be given.

You can find the most detailed description of the regulations on the website of the Federal Foreign Office (https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/DE/Laenderinformationen/00-SiHi/KubaSicherheit.html). Here are the quotes on the most important topics so that you don’t have to search for long:
“There is an increased risk in road traffic due to the poor condition of the roads, a lack of lighting, unpredictable driving behavior and technical deficiencies (no lighting, brake failure, etc.). Cubans communicate in traffic partly through a system of hand signals that are initially incomprehensible to foreigners.
Drinking alcohol while driving is prohibited. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol in the passenger compartment of a car, including for passengers, is prohibited. In addition, alcohol may not be carried in the passenger compartment of the car if consumption is obvious.
Accidents involving tourists that result in personal injuries can result in a travel ban lasting several weeks and possibly even pre-trial detention. If people are injured or killed, foreign drivers are sometimes given draconian prison sentences.
Nighttime travel across country should be avoided at all costs due to poor road conditions, unlit vehicles (such as cyclists and horse-drawn carriages), pedestrians and livestock on the road.
Rental cars in Cuba are often in poor technical and visual condition. When renting a rental car, you should pay close attention to the technical condition of the vehicle and document any previous damage in detail (with photos if necessary). There have been cases of tourists who were confronted with apparently unjustified claims for damages when returning the vehicle. The statutory insurance cover for rental cars offered in Cuba does not meet European standards. This is particularly true for the low amount of cover for personal injury. Taking out additional insurance in Germany should therefore be considered.”
