It all began when Chris set off on a backpacking trip across Central and South America, where his love for Cuba truly took root. Back then, traveling in Cuba was not only more challenging but also more exhilarating than anywhere else he had been. The country’s rich history and unique culture made it a mysterious and captivating destination that many travelers struggled to fully understand.

After returning, Chris launched Backpackercuba, a company dedicated to offering real, authentic backpacking adventures in Cuba. At first, it was just friends and colleagues joining the trips. But soon, through word of mouth, more and more people reached out—hearing about this unique opportunity for personalized trips to Cuba.
As time went on, Backpackercuba grew into Cuba Buddy, a travel company specializing in custom trips designed around each traveler’s desires. Today, we’ve expanded into a team of over 30 experts between Germany and Havana. While our offerings have evolved, our mission has stayed the same: “Broaden your horizons through travel.”
